Some of the most popular beaches do have lifeguards and some of them use the safety flag system (usually only during the high season, between May and October).

Sun beds, parasols and water sports equipment rental stands are available at Praia da Luz. The beach is considered to be safe and ideal for children. There is a restaurant/bar on the beach and many other are accessible within walking distance.
